Fitzmaurice’s Caravan Park recognise the impact that our holiday park and tourism has on the environment and we are making a commitment to identify and reduce negative effects we may have; We are focused on improving environmental practices through;
Conserving natural resources through the responsible use of energy and water-low electricity consumption, water flow restrictors and push taps are used when possible
Work with suppliers that will reduce our carbon
monitoring and recording of water usage which assists in identifying leaks and encourage water conservation in all areas.
Separation Management of general waste & dry mixed/glass recycling.
Communication of our policy with guests, staff and suppliers.
We will upcycle and re-use when possible.
The following actions have been taken by us and continue to be taken to minimise our footprint on the environment.
All garden waste is mulched/composted.
Return bins located around the parkfor drink bottles and cans. All donations godirectly to charity.
Cardboard packaging, newspapers, magazines, glass, cans, plastic bottles and used light bulbs, electrical appliances and batteries are all returned to our suppliers or collected for recycling.
When replacing electrical equipment only “A+” rated appliances are purchased.
All mobile homes on the caravan a park use LED low energy bulbs.
All mobile homes use low wattage kettles 750-950w kettles, and all TVs are LED.
All pitches are provided with 6 amps. This significantly reduces energy consumption.
Lighting level is reduced in a section of the park where there is a small bat population.
We are currently transitioning to chemical free cleaning products eg. brill blue.
We send electronic receipts where possible to reduce the amount of paper that we use and we also re-use paper at the offices. We have reduced printing and sending of our brochures.
We support environmentally sustainable tourism by encouraging the following activities; walking , cycling surfing, sea swimming, hiking. Local maps and suggestions for walking routes and activities are available from our shop.
We consider the environment when making purchasing decisions E.g. all footballs in our shop and some toys are bio degradable.
Our future objectives are:
To improve our energy usage.
To further reduce our waste generation.
Gradual switch from fossil fuels
To produce our own energy for hot water and electricity
Aim for a carbon neutral holiday for our guests

Please try not to run water unnecessarily. Please report any water leaks.
Please turn off all lights/ electrical equipment when your unit is unoccupied.
Please close the windows if the heat is on in your unit.
Place glass in the GLASS BIN. Place dry clean recyclables, ie tin cans, plastics, cardboard newspapers and magazines in the GREEN BIN. Place general waste in the BLACK BIN,
Please consider walking instead of using your car. Excellent bus services are available to Waterford City and Dunmore east
